Call for Papers!

The editors of Retrospect, the graduate history journal of the University of Texas at Dallas (affiliated with the local chapter of Phi Alpha Theta), are inviting submissions for our latest issue. The theme for this issue is “Perceptions of the Past.”

We solicit texts that explore how the present shapes our perceptions of the past as well as articles that consider how the concept of the past has been viewed at different times. Perceptions of the past can include views on methodologies, disciplines, periods, events, regions, genders, beliefs, ethnicities, races, and cultures. We welcome submissions from all scholars, but particularly encourage submissions from graduate students and junior scholars.

Format:
Manuscripts being submitted for consideration to Retrospect should be carefully proofread. Notes should appear at the end of the article (footnotes are not accepted) and be formatted according to The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition. Manuscripts should not contain previously published material.

At this time we only accept electronic submissions (via e-mail). Please submit an abstract (250-300 words) with your article to papersubmissions@gmail.com with "submission to journal" in the subject line. Manuscripts should be in Word format and not exceed thirty typed pages (double spaced, 1 inch margins, left margin justification).

Please include a title page with title, author's name, and affiliation if any. Retrospect employs a blind reviewing process: except for the title page all obvious references by which the referees could identify the author must be removed by the author prior to submission.

Accepted manuscripts that are not proofread or depart significantly from the approved style will be returned for revision by the author. Authors are responsible for obtaining license to publish copyrighted images or other materials and will be expected to sign a copyright agreement granting Retrospect the right to publication in the journal. If you have any questions on guidelines, require additional information, or wish to view previous issues of the journal, please visit the Retrospect website at www.retrospectjournal.org.

The deadline for article submissions is April 15, 2008.
If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Monica Rankin at mrankin@utdallas.edu or (972) 883-2005
